The American Hungarian Federation (AHF) and the Washington, DC, Scout Troop No. 4. organized a Charity Ball at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Washington, DC. Both organizations donated the income of the event to benefit the Children Cancer Foundation. Patrons of the ball, among others, were former US Ambassador to Hungary The Hon. Nancy Goodman Brinker, a pioneer of fight against cancer, Hungary’s Ambassador to the US His Excellency Dr. Ferenc Somogyi and President of the MICE Foundation Mr. László Mészáros.

On April 16, the European Patient Rights Day was celebrated for the first time in Hungary. The vent was organized by the National Health Council under the patronage of Minister of Health Dr. Tamás Székely. According to a study, Hungary is the 7th nation in Europe among 31 countries in respecting patients’ rights. However, the situation is not as rosy as the statistics suggest.
